SEATTLE— The Alliance for Education is excited to return to the first in-person Convening Seattle Community Luncheon since before the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at the Hyatt at Olive 8. This year’s key conversation on public education is on increasing educator diversity, discussing recruitment, retention and pathways to leadership for teachers of color.
The panel will be moderated by Professor and Dean at University of Washington College of Education Dr. Mia Tuan with esteemed panelists:
- Kathlene H. Campbell, Ph.D. – CEO, National Center for Teacher Residencies
- Sarah Pritchett, Ed.D. – Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Seattle Public Schools
- Marisa Bier, Ph.D. – Director, Seattle Teacher Residency
- Jordan Rocco, M. Ed. – STR Alum, Olympic Hills Elementary School, Seattle Public Schools
Attendees can join in person or virtually for lunch and great conversation in support of the Alliance’s work on behalf of Seattle Public Schools. For 26 years, the Alliance has partnered with Seattle Public Schools to address big challenges facing students, families and educators. Now more than ever, this collaboration is critical to our work to advance racial equity and support students furthest from educational justice.
The public is invited and may register ahead of time to reserve a seat here.
We thank presenting sponsors Amazon and Nordstrom in making this event free for the public, alongside other partners Alaska Airlines, Boeing, Microsoft, The Seattle Times, BECU, Ben Bridge Jeweler, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gesa Credit Union, Seattle Department of Education & Early Learning, University of Washington College of Education, Urban League of Metro Seattle and RBC Wealth Management.
