Phuong

Tran

Manager of Recruitment and Retention, Seattle Teacher Residency
she/her

At the age of 4, Phuong vividly recalls creating a circle of dolls to conduct frequent read alouds. She always thought to herself, ‘Wow, my students are so well- behaved!’ A few years later in 3rd grade, she was able to execute the same task- except this time it was with actual Kindergarten students. She fell in love immediately and knew education was her calling!

Phuong’s nearly two decades of educational experience encompasses roles as a Teacher, Math Interventionist, Counselor and Assistant Principal in Title One schools. She attended the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!) and earned her B.A. double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. She also holds a National Board Certification (ELA K-8), two Master’s degrees (M.I.T. and M.Ed with School Counseling endorsement) and an administrative certification through UW College of Education’s Danforth Educational Leadership Program.

As a born and raised Seattleite, Phuong is passionate about ensuring every student receives the high-quality education they deserve. She has a deep commitment to fostering the next generation of educators and is committed to creating inclusive learning environments that empower all students to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. In past roles, Phuong has consistently created meaningful partnerships and advocated for equitable resources to collectively strengthen communities and schools.

Outside of work, you can catch Phuong spending quality time with her family, friends and sweet Rottweiler. Phuong also enjoys working out, attending church, exploring new restaurants and traveling.
